We are not
Even if we stayed for a lifetime, it still would not be enough.
Never will we say that now we are ready to depart.
And yet we do.
We pack, we leave.
Separated by space we walk united in time.
In an earth that seeks to become, we somehow manage to be.
And we are together.
Under a sky that never ceases to destroy we somehow survive-
for now.
And we continue.
Do not ask me where we are-
Do not ask me where we are going.
All I know is that we go-
And that we go together.
No hand can I hold but yours that is not here.
No face can I see but yours that my sight never reaches.
No laughter do I ever hear but yours that never ceases.
And we go.
Don’t ask me where-
All I know is we are going together.
You are here and then you are not-
And yet here you are again.
As if you never leave.
And yet I may not touch you.
And then you come back and I come back
And we are indeed together.
Like a splinter in life’s wooden surface we become.
And then we are
together.
We enjoy a day in the sun;
Together
We hold no fear, no remorse.
Together
We can.
Together
We are.
And then we go again;
somewhere new, somewhere far
away.
And it seems as though the road is always stretching
And I stand on one end
And you stand on the other.
Together,
The two edges of the earth.
And we move
Separately but together.
I take a step
You take a step.
We walk.
As if we are holding hands.
Until some day we meet again.
And,
Suddenly,
it seems like never when
together
we were not.
